Parliamentary elections in Slovenia

The election scheduled to take place on July 13th follows the resignation of the centre-left Prime Minister Alenka Bratusek in May after she lost a battle for the leadership of the Positive Slovenia party. 33% of the outgoing parliament were women. This is unprecedented in Slovenian history and follows the adoption of gender quotas, prior to which women's representation in the Slovenian parliament oscillated between 7.5% to 14% over the past 20 years.
